If no curb appeal, potential buyers will not even get
out of their cars or tour your home – they just move on
to the next home.
Do people want to see more? Is their interest aroused?
Is the front of your home eye catching? If not, you do
not have curb appeal.
Try This
Go out and sit in your car in front of your home (as if you
were a buyer just pulling up) and ask your self these
questions. Write down a list of what needs to be done.
-
Does the house look clean and crisp?
-
Does it stand out from other homes on the block?
-
What are the positive features – these will be the
ones that you want to accentuate.
-
What the negative features, these you want to
eliminate or minimalize.
At
night repeat the process. Study the landscape lighting,
lights on in various windows of the home and entry
lighting.

6 to 8% differences in
some markets

some residential markets, well landscape home
will bring up to 6-8% more. Good landscaping
really pays off. |

Maximizing your Curb Appeal |
|
Guidelines to maximize your curb
appeal.
Paint, stucco or siding should look clean and crisp. Any damaged
areas repaired. Freshly painted
houses stand out in any
neighborhood and draw admiring
attention. At times merely a
fresh coat of paint on the trim
and fascia is all that is needed to
add zing to that first look at
your home.
-
Planters should be weeded and
have a abundance of
colorful plants and flowers
set about. Avoid having too
many colors, stick with two
or three basic colors.
-
Lawn is mowed and the edges
are neatly and distinctly
trimmed. Grass is fertilized
and has a plush look. No
brown spots and leaves are raked
up. Start
fertilizing
early so that it has time
to take effect. All seeding
and
sod is uniform.
-
Sidewalk and drive. All
toys, newspapers and trash is picked up and out
of site.
-
Trash cans put away out of
site. If normally visible
find a new location out of
view.
